About Sheltered Futures

Miami Beach is facing a housing crisis. Rents have surged, wages haven’t kept up, and too many families are just one financial setback away from losing their homes. Eviction doesn’t just displace people. It disrupts jobs, education, and entire communities. Sheltered Futures takes action before that happens. We provide fast, direct rental assistance to stop eviction in its tracks, with a simple, no-barrier process that ensures funds reach landlords within 14 days. By preventing eviction rather than responding to homelessness, we help keep families stable, kids in school, and Miami Beach a city where people can afford to live and work.

• Our Mission

• Our Vision

Eviction doesn’t just mean losing a home. It means lost jobs, school disruptions, financial instability, and the unraveling of entire communities. Sheltered Futures exists to stop this cycle before it starts. Our mission is to provide rapid, direct financial assistance to prevent eviction and keep Miami Beach residents in their homes.

We cut through red tape to deliver immediate relief when it matters most. Our approach is simple. Fast access, minimal barriers, and direct payments to landlords within 14 days. But our work goes beyond emergency assistance. We believe that housing stability is the foundation of a thriving city, and we support long-term solutions that protect families from future displacement. By preventing eviction, we’re not just helping individuals—we’re strengthening neighborhoods, businesses, and the future of Miami Beach.

We envision a Miami Beach where no resident loses their home due to a temporary financial setback, where eviction is the exception, not the norm. A city that values stability as the foundation for opportunity, where workers, families, and seniors can afford to live and thrive.

Our vision is bold, but it’s possible. Research shows that preventing eviction reduces homelessness, protects economic mobility, and strengthens communities. With rapid intervention, direct financial support, and a commitment to long-term solutions, we can build a future where housing security isn’t a privilege—it’s a given.

"Rising home prices are pushing would-be buyers out of the market, driving up demand for rentals. As demand increases, so do rent prices—making it even harder for low-income and extremely low-income renters to find stable, affordable housing."

How It Works

APPLY FOR ASSISTANCE

If you're at risk of eviction, the first step is to apply for help. Our quick and accessible application can be completed online or in person, with minimal paperwork required. We know that when you’re in crisis, time is critical—so we’ve eliminated unnecessary steps to get you assistance faster.

RAPID REVIEW & APPROVAL

Once you apply, our team reviews applications within 7 days to verify eligibility. We assess key factors such as income level, eviction status, and landlord cooperation to determine the best course of action. Unlike other programs that leave families waiting for weeks or months, we prioritize speed and efficiency so you get the support you need when it matters most.

DIRECT PAYMENT TO LANDLORDS

Once approved, funds are sent directly to your landlord within 14 days, stopping the eviction process before it escalates. This ensures that you stay in your home without accumulating more debt. By working directly with landlords, we cut through the red tape and prevent unnecessary delays that could lead to displacement.

ONGOING STABILITY SUPPORT

Eviction prevention is just the first step. To help ensure long-term stability, we connect families with financial planning resources, job training programs, and other essential support services. Our goal is not just to prevent eviction today but to empower individuals and families with the tools they need to remain housed in the future.
